[The 2nd ASEAN Summer Camp 2024] The space brings together future global leaders through innovation and sustainability

From July 22 to July 28, 2024, the College of Business, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (COB-UEH) organized the 2nd ASEAN Summer Camp 2024 program with the theme "Empowering Global Leaders through Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability" with the participation of international students from University Padjadjaran (Indonesia), King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), University of Malaya (Malaysia), NorthWestern University (Philippines).

The ASEAN Summer Camp program is an international student exchange program jointly organized by 8 universities in ASEAN (the faculties of business economics belongs to the ASEAN Collaborative Faculty of Economics and Business Working Group, including University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City). The program was organized for the first time in 2023 by Padjadjaran University (Indonesia). Following the success, UEH College of Business is proud to host the ASEAN Summer Camp 2024 program with the subject "Empowering Global Leaders through Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability", with the goal of providing experiential opportunities for students through practical learning programs combined with business visits and a variety of cultural, artistic, sports, and technology exchange activities.

Students from universities across Southeast Asia participate in the ASEAN Summer Camp program

During the program, students from several Southeast Asian univrsities experienced and learnt how to become leaders, with innovation and sustainability as the primary priority. Furthermore, with the purpose of offering a multicultural learning and living environment, ASEAN Summer Camp not only offers lectures from researchers and specialists, but also to all students taking part in an exceptionally entertaining vacation.

Class "Our Planet, Our Future" by Prof. Christopher Gan, Lincoln University (New Zealand)

Guest speakers presented numerous intriguing and informative insights on how artificial intelligence (AI) is creating new prospects for sustainable businesses. AI may be a strong tool for driving sustainable business solutions, such as streamlining manufacturing processes and evaluating data to make better decisions. Analyzing examples from two countries (UK and Viet Nam) might help the students identify trends and opportunities for applying AI to sustainable business. Furthermore, innovation is a constant process that assists firms in maintaining and improving their competitiveness while also contributing to long-term development.

To connect and apply the knowledge that has been communicated with the assistance of COB lectures, the students will begin to separate into working groups, hypothesize the problem to suggest first business ideas, and analyze what has been learnt and the problems that the proposed business may encounter.

Continue to be prepared with business knowledge, financial management, and significant opportunity to listen and learn from top experts in the industry on how to lead, manage people, and develop culture. Participating companies and student groups heard reports called “Business model for sustainable entrepreneurship” and “Budgeting for the entrepreneurship projects”.

Aside from the learning activities, the delegation of lecturers and students participated in numerous interesting cultural events, including a visit to the Vietnamese Ao Dai museum, a pottery-making workshop, and, most importantly, a trip to Nam Cat Tien Forest to release animals into the forest. Everyone had a strong connection to nature when visiting Nam Cat Tien Forest, where the beautiful terrain, diverse flora and fauna, and fresh air created a sense of tranquility and immersion in the natural world. In addition, students participated in releasing animals into the forest, which can help kids understand the importance of wildlife protection. This personal experience can highlight the significance of individual involvement in conserving the environment and wildlife.

With the theme of the 2nd ASEAN Summer Camp 2024, students leave each day with more information, breakthroughs, and new ideas for sustainable business. Through lectures, seminars, and presentations, students gain further knowledge and tools for implementing or encouraging sustainable business approaches in their operations or organizations.
